Wilcox gives Santos verdict

Manchester United director of football Jason Wilcox has explained the reasons why the club chose to sign Andrey Santos.

He told the club website:

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Man United are in the race for Kone, while L’Équipe claim he is also on Arsenal's shortlist.

Roma would like to keep Kone, but financial pressures mean they may be forced to sell to balance the books. Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini admitted: "It is undeniable that Roma have to balance the books.

"I hope that reaching the Champions League will be enough [to keep Kone], but it is clear that balance sheets are essential for clubs, and there will be more clarity in the coming weeks."

Darlow deal confirmed

United have confirmed Karl Darlow’s arrival.

The goalkeeper has signed a contract until 2028, with the option of another year.

United have been partly drawn to Darlow because he is registered as a homegrown player. The Reds needed to sign another homegrown player to submit a 25-man squad to the Premier League for next season.

Karl Darlow has spoken for the first time since being confirmed as a new Manchester United player.

As quoted by the club, he said: “I am extremely proud to sign for Manchester United. I’m joining an excellent group of goalkeepers and I’m really looking forward to all pushing each other to ensure that we maintain the highest standards, which this club demands.

“This is a really special opportunity; everyone can see what an exciting time it is for the club and I cannot wait to play my part in supporting my team-mates and helping to drive the group forwards.”

United to decide on Collyer's future

Toby Collyer is set to receive clarity on his future later in the transfer window. United confirmed the signing of Andrey Santos on Monday, while a deal for Youri Tielemans is close to being agreed.

United will make a third midfield signing, and it's understood Collyer's future will be addressed once the club knows how their midfield will look next season.

In the meantime, Collyer will get a chance to impress Michael Carrick in pre-season friendlies. He reported for the first day of pre-season at Carrington and will be involved in United's summer fixtures.

Ederson transfer claims

The Ederson deal is one that could be revisited later in the summer transfer window...

For Manchester United to agree a deal with Atalanta it would require restructure to the £35million agreement reached last month.

However, Fabrizio Romano is claiming that United will not be going back in for the midfielder later this summer. Discussions collapsed last week and the deal is now considered completely off.

The Serie A side have since offered Ederson a new contract.

Bouaddi transfer update

Manchester City appear favourites to sign Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi.

Arsenal and Manchester United had been linked as they look for midfield signings but it is City that are pushing hard for him, according to The Athletic.

Their report states that he is likely to cost in the region of €100million (£85.3m) and that City would bring him in now with the Morocco international expected to make a final decision soon.

Following the arrival of Karl Darlow, two Manchester United goalkeepers are set to leave.

Altay Bayindir is expected to to return to Turkey on a permanent deal, while 22-year-old Radek Vitek is keen to play regular football again.

Vitek had a successful loan spell at Bristol City last season and he could depart on loan again, although United will consider cashing in on the Czech youngster if they receive an acceptable offer.
